問及公民黨主席關信基教授對張超雄的評價，關教授竟然以前輩的身份，用上了「尊敬」二字，對張超雄的人道主義與人文精神表示欽佩。

「超雄非常有原則，他對弱勢社群不是同情，而是願意花耗大量時間與他們同行，一起抗爭。」

「有人工作只想得到即時效果、廣泛注意，處處計算回報。超雄則只想解決問題，沒有功利計算，不會只提選引人注意的事去做。」關教授簡單幾句便總結了張超雄的作風。選舉需要高度的曝光爭取支持，張超雄卻反其道而行，這樣的遊戲規則，反而令他處於劣勢。面對這樣的困局，關教授忍不住說：「超雄真是一個很特別的人。」

公民黨中不少是專業人士，當中律師尤多，因此有「大狀黨」之稱，社工出身的張超雄是黨內的小數。對於黨內這個「異象」，關教授認為張超雄的角色很重要。「他的身教，時常提醒我們要關心基層。」張超雄絕對是黨內的平衡劑。

提到張超雄可能落選，關教授說：「超雄為最困苦的人工作，若失去議席，將會十分可惜！」

Asked of his views on Fernando Cheung, Civic Party Chairman Kuan Hsin-chi, despite being a precursor, used the word “respect” to convey his admiration for Cheung’s humanitarianism and humanistic spirit.

“Fernando is a person of principle. He does not pity the disadvantaged, rather, he spends a great deal of time walking alongside them and fighting with them.”

“Some people do things with calculations for immediate results and widespread attention. Fernando only wants to solve problems and harbours no self-seeking thoughts; he does not work only on issues that stand to draw notice.” The few comments by Professor Kuan sum up Fernando Cheung’s way. Elections enjoin a high degree of exposure in order to draw support, but Cheung’s way is the opposite; the rules of the electoral game land him in a vulnerable position. Faced with such predicament, Professor Kuan lamented, “Fernando is such a special person.”

There are not a few professionals in the Civic Party, especially those of the legal profession, that is why the Party is sometimes called the “barristers’ party”. As a social worker by profession, Fernando Cheung is a minority. Professor Kuan attaches importance to the role of Cheung as a rarity in the Party. “He demonstrates by example and reminds us always to care for the grassroots.” Fernando Cheung certainly supplies balance to the Party.

Asked of the possibility of Cheung losing the election, Professor Kuan said, “Fernando works for the most downtrodden, if he loses his seat, it will be a real shame!”
